The generic name of Nizoral shampoo is ketoconazole. NIZORAL 2% Shampoo is a reddish orange liquid and is meant for topical application. This medicated shampoo is used to treat or prevent fungal infection on skin, seborrohoeic dermatitis as well as severe dandruff. This drug is strictly for external use. People allergic to any of the ingredients present in the medicine should not use any further. There are certain medicines that should not be used during the course of pregnancy and breast-feeding. But in acute cases this drug could be used according to the doctor prescription. NIZORAL® (ketoconazole) 2% Shampoo is a red-orange liquid supplied in a 4-fluid ounce non-breakable plastic bottle. This drug should be stored at a temperature not above 25°C (77°F). It should also be kept away from light, heat and moisture. The shampoo should be applied on the damp skin of the affected area. Leave it for five minutes and then rinse it off using water.
