The applicator is basically an empty plastic tube. It is called a barrel. While one end of this tube is open; the other one has a plunger which can move inside the barrel. You need to remove the cap from the end of the cream tube. Squeeze the tube so that the cream can be inserted from the open end of the barrel. This action is to be continued until the barrel is completely filled with the cream.

This medication also comes in the tablet form. If you are using these; you need to unwrap it and place the tablet in the applicator. You can wet the tablet with water soluble lubricating gel or plain warm water. Do not use petroleum jelly for this purpose.

The medicine loaded applicator needs to be inserted into the vagina just like you would use a tampon. Push the plunger as long as you are comfortable. Once the full medicine is inserted, remove the applicator and wash it with warm water.
