How to Use Nystatin

The dosing of Nystatin depends on several factors such as your age, medical condition being treated, the particular product, other medication and other medical condition. For diaper rash or other skin infections Nystatin cream, ointment and powder can be used. The standard dosage of ointment and cream of this medication is a liberal amount to be applied on the affected site of the skin twice daily. This dosage can be applied for all the age group including newborns. The application of this medication should be continued till the disappearance of the infection. If the infection is on very moist part of the body Nystatin powder can be applied to the affected site. This medication should be applied twice or thrice daily until the healing is complete. If you are dealing with fungal infection in feet, you should dust your shoes and feet with this powder. One Nystatin vaginal tablets is meant to be inserted inside the vagina once daily for two weeks. For oral thrush Nystatin oral suspension can be used. For babies, the recommended dosage will be 2 ml four times a day. Avoid feeding the baby after 5 to 10 minutes of the dosage. For children and adults, the recommended dosage will be 4 to 6 ml four times a day. Do not swallow this medication at once; hold the medication in the mouth without swishing.
